“Success isn’t about money and bling, and having the fanciest car. Success is being able to help people, to do things for people that need help. When they need it, you can help them. One of the most amazing things to me is when athletes, celebrities, etc. can take something mundane like a shoe or a hat or a piece of paper and put their signature on it and automatically it has value, something that can be auctioned off for charity or do some fundraising with. This is an amazing thing.”
“Business people can donate their time, skills and efforts to help organizations as board members or volunteers. If you’re an accountant, you can do the bookkeeping for a non-profit group. If you have certain skills, you can use them at university or grade school or the Boy Scouts or anything like that. Take what you do, what you know, the things that you’re putting together as an entrepreneur or as a business person and create something of value for someone else. That’s how we give back to the universe. That’s how we do things that give meaning to what we’re doing as people trying to build businesses and succeed in a career. That’s the balance, doing things that help other people that doesn’t benefit you, but it gives you that feeling inside that you know what you’ve done has been good for other people.”
