My #SaturdayMorningHustle video and podcast last week generated a lot of positive conversation on social media. Here's more of the story, my thoughts and how you can find your opportunity to do more with your skills and talents. ⠀ True success comes from a positive attitude and willingness to give more than you receive. ⠀ ⠀ So many of us hustle and grind every single day (even on the weekends) to make something for ourselves and our family. That’s what it takes to be an entrepreneur, own your own business or be the best employee where you work. BUT that does not mean every minute of every day is spend getting just ourselves ahead.⠀ ⠀ Sometimes you need to do things that are not for you, but others. At least 51% for others. Sometimes 100%. Why? It always opens opportunity in ways you can never plan. Meet new people, hear new ideas or be inspired by others you would have never otherwise met. We all need that. The ROI is always positive, but hard to quantify.⠀ ⠀ True Story: Just last week a friend called in a panic. She works at a career tech campus here in OKC along with doing a tremendous amount of volunteering, mentoring and teaching. It was 5:45pm and she had a small business workshop scheduled to start at 6:00pm but the instructor had the flu. "Can you come and teach this workshop for me?" Every part of my logical mind said "No" but I knew she had no other option. I had to drive across town during rush hour, to teach a workshop that I didn't prepare the materials for, with no preparation and (this is the kicker!) IT WAS IN SPANISH. I do not speak Spanish. I said yes. It was amazing! I met a group of smart, savvy and gracious businesswomen who took the odd circumstances we all were put into by starting late, waiting for a translator to convey information, etc. in stride with zero complaints. Saying yes was not logical, but worth it in the end.⠀ ⠀ Trust me, this attitude has served me well. The more I give, the more I get. I’m having the best 1st quarter ever, and I hope you are too. Get busy, hustle, grind and do what it takes. That includes giving more than you expect in return. Create value for others, and people will always see value in you. Best of luck!
