The concept of community is needed more than ever. As individuals, we need to come together for communication, collaboration and empathy with/for each other. This benefits everyone. There's also the concept of community building as a business model. No selling, more authentic engagement and brand loyalty. All you have to do is provide value first, not expect anything in return and let the community develop organically. A #SaturdayMorningHustle tribute to the passing of the amazing Jack Welch, who led General Electric through two decades of extraordinary corporate prosperity and became the most influential business manager of his generation.⠀ ⠀ Welch was a very well known and respected as an American business executive, chemical engineer, and writer. He was chairman and CEO of General Electric between 1981 and 2001. In 2006, Welch's net worth was estimated at $720 million. Welch was known for having very simple attitudes towards leadership. Cancer Sucks! Meet DeAndre Wilson and the #KeepRolling Campaign. Social Media doesn't always live up to it's potential, but occasionally cool things happen online. Last week, the #SaturdayMorningHustle caught the attention of DeAndre Wilson. He's the man behind the #CancerSucks Keep Rolling awareness campaign by pushing a 230-pound tire around Evansville Indiana to honor his father's memory. Wilson's father rolled that same tire for 18 months while going through chemotherapy for stage four liver and colon cancer. When he died five years ago, Wilson inherited the tire, which reads, "cancer sucks." ⠀ ⠀ Wilson called into my podcast to talk about it. It's a #SaturdayMorningHustle idea so simple but so powerful and true. People appreciate positive reinforcement. Who doesn't love a compliment, big or small? Think about how you feel when some tells you something nice. Small things count too. Like on your social media post, positive comments, and people going out of their way to make a specific comment about how they like what you're doing. So if all this is true, why don't we all do more of it? Too often we use social media, phone apps, digital platforms and networking events to be negative, complain and not lift others up because we don't want the competition. For me, when I get positive comments online and #IRL about the Saturday Morning Hustle podcast, my business podcast (The Golding Group #NeoMarketing Podcast) and other activity it really lifts my spirits.
